It's Monday morning, the clouds are hanging low over the sky, the Seattle drizzle is happening, my dog is sitting at my feet as I write this, I'm on hold with my bank, I'm listening to one of my favorite radio talk shows....what a wonderful morning it is. Later on I will go work out then start to make dinner for my wife (Since this is my day off I am responsible for dinner plans.... I wonder if a Big Mac would do tonight....maybe not.) Yesterday, after the three services, I came home to rest and watch some football, fell asleep and woke up to my phone ringing. It was a pastor friend of mine wondering if I was up for a bike ride for a few hours. I jump at the chance with this thought in mind, first-the weather was great, a little chilly but not wet, second-the Hawks game wasn't on till later in the evening, third-he's my friend and I want to invest in my friends when they call. This fellowship thing means taking time whether it convenient or not to be with a friend. By the way it was very convenient and enjoyable, although a little chilly on the way back.
For several years now we (Brooklake Community Church) have been emphasizing the importance of being a small group of some sort. I really believe this is where the action is, in terms of being encouraged and growing in ones walk with God. I guess only time will reveal the eternal impact of our emphasis on this means of helping people connect with and grow in their walk with Jesus Christ.
I just want to make sure that I live it and not just talk it. I get this strange feeling that i will be held accountable for my actions and not my talk... just a thought though.
By the way I am still on hold with my bank....I'm glad it was a toll free line.
